Our Beginnings

At Shuldiner Low Vision Training Institute, we create an optometrist’s ability to provide solutions that improve quality of life for the visually impaired in a way that is professionally satisfying and financially rewarding.

Richard Shuldiner, OD, FAAO successfully created a low vision care model for his southern California, private practice where he made low vision care his entire focus. He’s been doing just that for over 25 years.

News of his focus on restoring function to those with low vision spread and led to patients and colleagues across the globe to seek his expertise. Dr. Shuldiner recognized a need to develop this training program to equip independent optometrists with the ability to care for low vision patients in their own communities.

We have trained over 50 independent optometrists in our methodologies since 2001. In order to serve those with low vision, we welcome more doctors to join us in providing “life after vision loss.”
